Changing schools for 2020-2021? Changing your name? If either of these pertain to you, there are a variety of computer-related implications, particularly for staff members with a staff laptop or chromebook.
Beginning the week of June 15th, we will start updating the user accounts of all staff members who are changing schools for the 2020-2021 school year. After that time, staff members will begin to receive messages from their new email groups and have permissions to printers at their new schools.
When staff members have a name change, the Information Services department will need to do the following work over a two-day period:
- Make the appropriate changes in Active Directory and our G Suite for Education system
- Create the new user account on the staff member’s device (laptop only)
The name change process is different for staff members with laptops and staff members with chromebooks – please read the appropriate section below for more information.
Staff Members with a LAPTOP should contact the CCSD21 Tech Center and Information Services Office by completing a Help Request online at least 48 hours in advance of your requested drop off date. We will let you know if we can be in the Tech Center on that date/time. After we have scheduled a date, you can bring your laptop on the designated day and time to the Tech Center in the CCSD21 Administration Building (behind the Business Office–please enter through the front door of the Administration Building). During the summer, the Tech Center is open from 8AM to 3PM on the days that we are not in the schools working on projects. Please be aware that we will need to keep your laptop for 24-48 hours to complete the changes.
Staff Members with a CHROMEBOOK do not need to drop off their chromebook to complete the name change process. When ready for the name change, please contact the CCSD21 Tech Center and Information Services Office by completing a Help Request online. We will coordinate a time to complete the name change in Active Directory and Google. Once the name change is complete, we will instruct you on how to log into the chromebook with your new credentials.
*Please note that name changes can only be completed by the Information Services team after they have been formally completed with Human Resources.
